What is a neuropsychological evaluation?
A neuropsychological evaluation is an assessment of how one’s brain functions. The process involves an interview and administration of tests. These tests are typically paper and pencil type tests, though some may be administered via computer. The evaluation measures such areas as:

What is psychological testing?
A psychological assessment evaluates an individual’s behavior using structured tools and a clinical interview to arrive at a diagnosis and guide treatment. In a mental health setting, results of psychological testing assist treatment planning by identifying:
•Targets for symptom reduction
•Strengths and barriers to treatment
•Ways to better engage the patient in treatment
•Services that may be the best fit for theindividual
Pre-surgical psychological assessments
Carolina Brain Wellness Center also also offers
psychological assessments as part of the pre-
surgical process for a variety of medical
procedures (e.g., organ transplant, bone marrow
transplant, spinal cord stimulator surgery, and
bariatric surgery). Pre-surgical psychological
assessments evaluate an individual’s ability to
tolerate the emotional side effects and
complications of these surgical procedures and
identify interventions to maximize the likelihood
of surgical success.
