Five Element acupuncture uses a less forceful approach to treatment than is most common practice. There are usually fewer needles used and less strongly manipulated than is standard modern practice. It is intended to maximize the effect of stimulating the body and mind to self-heal. The diagnosis is based upon a constitutional type and there is less emphasis on directly confronting a specific medical condition, and greater emphasis on a wholistic approach producing a state of balance.
